Domain Names

If you want other people to find services (like a web server or a game server) that you are hosting on the Internet, you'll need to find some way to advertise your IP address. Rather than advertise a numeric IP address (like 204.242.227.130) that might change from time to time, you'll find it much easier to advertise a stable "Domain Name" like "SmithNetworks.com" that you can virtually own.

A movie entitled "Dynamic DNS" has been completed to cover this subject, and a high-resolution version can be purchased from our online store at www.lulu.com/AskMisterWizard, but it has not yet been converted into the free, low-resolution, advertising-sponsored version that will eventually appear hear.
