We've found that you can download a free version of Air Warrior 3d from this Internet download site link:

How to fly "offline" missions with the free, old version of Air Warrior.

Gentlemen:

AirWarrior 3 was widely available in two distinct "flavors": A free version that was oriented toward online play, and a commercial version that was sold through stores. The commercial version had more offline features, and a lot of offline missions were written with and for it. I wrote a lot of those missions and donated them for free use by the community.

The free version is still available as a download from the Internet (see the prior posting). The commercial version is not available. As it turns out, it's possible to fly those offline missions with the free version. It's cumbersome, but it can be done as follows:

The free old Air Warrior 3 package described as a free download in the prior post includes several "missions" that were originally written for the commercial (non-free) AirWarrior. It also includes, on its main "splash screen" page, a prominent facility called "Instant Action". (Just click on the prominent P40 fighter plane that dominates the front portion of the display.) The logic for that option will try to load and play an offline mission with a single, static, unchanging filename. That filename is:

deminst0.msn

If you have any old missions for AirWarrior version 3, (even those that were written for the commercial or non-free version), you can fly any of them by making an extra copy, renaming that copy to "deminst0.msn" and storing that file in your "missions" subdirectory (immediately below where your main AirWarrior 3 files are stored, including "airwar3d.exe"). Just let it overwrite any old "deminst0.msn" file that's already there. Then use "instant action" as described above.

You'll probably need help with keyboard commands. You can learn the most important defaults by pressing "F1" at any time while in flight.

I've decided to create a new sub-forum named "Air Warrior" to hold all future discussion of this subject. Please don't post to this thread anymore.... Please join us in the new "Air Warrior" forum, which can then be further subdivided into appropriate subjects and associated threads.

Thanks!
