Medium-detail graphic models for users
with typical LINUX desktop computers
This is our standard set of 3d models, optimized for use on the vast
majority of LINUX desktops. These are balanced for the optimal mix of
display quality and rendering speed, performing so well that even
Raspberry Pi users ought to use this set as their starting-point. After
installing this set of 3d models, those with powerful gaming-class
computers might consider replacing one or more of those that are also
available in our "More Details" archive with the corresponding files in
order to get a few even better-looking aircraft. On the other hand,
Raspberry Pi users (and others with marginal computing power) might
consider replacing one or more of those that are also available in our
"Simplified" archive with the corresponding files in order to improve
frame rate, especially if they wish to fly in a mission environment
that displays several of the corresponding aircraft.
This standard set of 3d models was overhauled in late January of 2021,
after LAC versions 8.40 and 8.41 were published. Accordingly, anybody
using those versions of LAC (or any earlier version) will benefit by
replacing all of their .3ds files with this set.
For all of the download links below, replace the corresponding
file within LAC's ~home/LAC/models subdirectory (or, if you are using
the "global" installation option and have "root" privileges, within the
new /usr/share/lac/models subdirectory) with the download.
